The new DA interface has been exciting with some nifty new features. The DA team has done hard work on this, kudos.

Now on to the new News approach. I, for one, am one of those responsible yet ignorant deviant who follows all DA etiquetts and rules, making DA a friendly community as stipulated by it. I however, end up not reading the "Hot Topics" in my msg centre which usually concerns latest DA developments.

So to the main jist of this "news" - Before posting here, I look all over the page for the rules/regulations/policies concerning the News but of course I havent found it.

This probably has confused not only me but many others to post here usually inadvertently , not knowing whats suitable News or a journal Entry.

Its usually followed by replies from compulsive vigilante puritanicals -
- This isn't news, this should be in your journal!
- Uh, this isn't news!
- Interesting article, but it should have gone in your journal..
- This is self promotion!

True, some articles cannot be news by common sense but the question is "Whats News and Whats not?"

Perhaps we could have guidelines on the News Page? Maybe they exist and I havent seen them?

This is not news, belongs in your journal, is self-promotion!

And no, this does not 'belong' in a forum or journal! If you however think so, you shouldn't be reading this any further - you have been warned and are under no pressure or forced duress to do so.

And you're probably new to the langue.

I agree with you, there needs to be guides and that's why they're in the works. Look for them soon in the FAQ. :)

I haven't received any Hot Topics in my Message Centre since v5 launched. Is this the same for everyone or am I cursed? :)

You're looking for an article like this one by $lolly which defines what is and isn't dA news. But because people cluttered in-boxes with bad articles, you no longer read the Hot Topics and therefore missed it entirely. Then you post this "article" explaining that you missed it asking for a guide to what is and isn't news. :hmm:

This, I believe, is not news; this is more of an inquiry. If posted in the forums, you might have been directed to the aforementioned article, or another article like it (there is more than one, for better or worse). Another option would have been noting an administrator about coming up with a news guide with a permanent link, like this one by ~KissMyHuman.

I won't say where your "article" belongs, but I do not think it belongs here.
